Summer, Progress, and Edits

June was an exciting month. Many doctor’s appointments were involved, but I made good progress. I reached out to my editor to get one last run-through since I made so many changes from the last time she read through the manuscript. I’m super excited to get through this last edit, because this will come out this year. Every new milestone I have reached in the process of writing this book, I feel more confident of reaching that same milestone again in other projects. Starting and finishing the project, I now have a solid process for outlining and writing, and have been able to type “The End” on several other projects that are sitting in my to-be-edited pile. The scariest obstacle was when the story left my hands and went to beta readers and editors. Now it’s getting all the minor details of the last files and hitting print.

June is the month for which I plan the third quarter. Quarter three already. There is only half a year left, and I need to figure out the goals I had for the year and review what needs to be completed, and get to work. I absolutely love the quarterly reset. 90-days is the right time to make goals work and have a scheduled date to review and reset. I used to make goals, and within two weeks I already fall behind. Then take another day to figure out my goals. I spent more time resetting deadlines than working on them. This way, I make progress. It may fall short, but it’s more progress than what I was making before.
