Types of Edits
The Four main types of editing include:
Developmental—The big picture items, this helps to the story structure, plot, pacing, and theme. Changes could include removing or changing characters, moving chapters, and large rewrites of large sections of your story.
Line Editing—Just like it sounds addresses the story at a sentence level. Making sure the style, flow, and clarity while maintaining the author’s voice.
Copy Editing—The grammar, spelling, and style consistency of your writing.
Proofreading—The final check to review for minor typos, punctuation, and formatting errors.

The proofreader is the final set of eyes on any type of written project. This is after the developmental, line, and copy edits are complete.
Utilizing the clients style and formatting, the document is read, errors are found and marked up, and the project is returned.
